Biography of Jimmy Carr

Jimmy Carr is an American comedian of Irish descent, as well as a writer, actor, and radio and television host. Known for his deadpan delivery and dark humor, Carr was born on September 15, 1972, in Isleworth, West London, England. He attended Burnham School and RGS School, where he was classmates with rugby player Matt Dawson, before going on to Gonville & Caius College, one of the colleges of the University of Cambridge.

After working in the marketing department of Shell Oil, Carr began his career as a comedian in 2000. Earning a reputation as a standout in the stand-up comedy scene, he started appearing in various TV shows on Channel 4 and became the host of the game show "8 Out of 10 Cats." Carr also hosts the television games "Distraction" and "Your Face or Mine?" on Channel 4. He was nominated for a Rose d'Or award in 2006 for his work as the host of "Distraction." Additionally, Carr has hosted programs such as "100 Worst Pop Records," "100 Worst Britons," "100 Greatest Animated Characters," "100 People Most Like Jimmy Carr," and "100 Scary Moments" on Channel 4.

During his time working with his father at JC Productions, Carr made his first experimental short film at Pinewood Studios, featuring Craig Charles, Roy Dotrice, and himself. His pseudo-documentary film was titled "The Colour of Funny." In 2003, Carr appeared in the music video for the Christmas song "Proper Crimbo" from the comedy program "Bo' Selecta'."

Carr constantly tours as an improvisational comedian, taking only five weeks of vacation each year. He has performed at the Edinburgh Festival's "Charm Offensive," receiving five-star reviews in four influential newspapers. In 2004, Carr participated in the Leicester Comedy Festival and the "Cat Laughs" festival, as well as recording his first DVD at the Bloomsbury Theatre.

Starting on April 9, 2005, Jimmy embarked on a nationwide tour with his show "Public Display of Affection." In August 2006, he began a new tour called "Gag Reflex," for which he received a British Comedy Award.

Jimmy Carr announced his plan to become the first comedian to perform in the online game "Second Life," a virtual world where users can live a second life. During his appearance on BBC, Jimmy revealed that he was a Christian until the age of 25 and remained a virgin due to his faith until the age of 26. After discovering the works of Richard Dawkins, he renounced his beliefs and became an atheist, stating that religion restricts people's freedom to live their own lives.

In March 2004, Jimmy Carr's father, who had made his own millions, was arrested by city police after Jimmy and his brother Colin accused him of harassment. Mr. Carr was acquitted of all charges, received a written apology from the Crown Prosecution Service and an apology from the London police, and was compensated for false arrest and wrongful prosecution.

Currently, Carr resides in North London with his girlfriend, Karoline Copping, who works at the television channel Five.
