Niklas Roest is a renowned Norwegian ice hockey player who currently plays for the Sparta Warriors in the Norwegian Eliteserien league and the Norwegian national team.
Early Career and Domestic Success
Roest began his hockey career in the Norwegian first division with Manglerud Star, helping them secure promotion to the Eliteserien in 2005. He then joined the Sparta Warriors in 2006, where he spent seven seasons. During his time with Sparta, Roest earned a reputation as a physical presence on the ice, amassing numerous penalty minutes and contributing to the team's championship victory in the 2010/2011 season.
International Career
Roest represented Norway at the 2006 World Junior Championships at the youth level. He made his senior debut for the national team in 2013 and has since appeared in three IIHF World Championships at the elite level. In 2014, Roest participated in the Winter Olympics, where he played in three games without scoring a point and finished with a -3 plus-minus rating.
Return to Sparta Warriors
After a stint with BIK Karlskoga in Sweden's second-tier league, Roest returned to Norway in 2014 and rejoined the Sparta Warriors. He has remained a key player for the team, providing leadership and physicality to their lineup.
