Born on October 24, 1987, in Cape Town, South Africa, Jodie Balfour's acting roots trace back to her childhood. As a child, she starred in theater productions and appeared on television in her hometown. In the early 2000s, she became a regular co-host on the popular South African youth show "Bling." After graduating high school, Balfour enrolled in the University of Cape Town to pursue a degree in Drama.

Breakthrough Role in "Bomb Girls"

Following her graduation, Balfour and her family relocated to Canada. In 2012, she landed her breakthrough role as Gladys Witham in the Canadian drama series "Bomb Girls." The series explored the lives of four women working in a munitions factory during World War II. Balfour's performance earned her a Canadian Screen Award.

International Recognition with "Rellik" and "The Crown"

In 2016, Balfour gained international recognition for her role as Detective Elaine Shepard in the British miniseries "Rellik."
