Biography of Joey Basmajian

Joey Basmajian is a Canadian entrepreneur and owner of the fashionable label "JACOB". He was born into a Syrian immigrant family in the 1960s and grew up in Quebec. His father, Jacob Basmajian, opened a small clothing store in Quebec and quickly established a reputation within the local community. Joey inherited his father's passion for the retail business and dedicated himself to ensuring the success of the family business.

Building the JACOB Brand

Joey took over the reins of the business in 1977 and soon after, he met his future wife and muse, Odette. Together, they dreamed of opening a larger store to expand the JACOB brand. In 1985, their dream became a reality when they opened the first JACOB store in Toronto. This marked the beginning of the brand's expansion across Canada. Joey and Odette developed a unique style that made the JACOB brand synonymous with quality. Attention to detail in their clothing and impeccable customer service became the brand's trademarks.

Continued Success and Expansion

For many years, the Basmajian family worked alongside a team of professionals who shared their passion and vision for the JACOB brand. In 1986, they launched the JACOB Junior line, catering to girls aged 7 to 14. Although popular, the JACOB Junior line ceased operations in 2007 to focus entirely on strengthening their position in the women's clothing market. The JACOB brand's headquarters are located in Montreal.

Today, JACOB products are sold in over 130 stores across Canada, employing more than 2000 people. The brand is now ready to conquer new markets in Australia, Japan, England, and Saudi Arabia. Joey is also considering another attempt to enter the United States market, this time by partnering with multi-brand stores such as Bloomingdale's and Macy's.

Justin Timberlake Concert Giveaway

From April 16th to May 7th, 2014, JACOB is running a contest for Canadian residents. Participants simply need to fill out a small questionnaire and optionally subscribe to the official JACOB website's newsletter. Among other prizes, randomly selected winners will receive two tickets to Justin Timberlake's concert at the Bell Centre in July 2014.
