Biography of Jordan

Pamela Rooke, better known as Jordan, was born on June 23, 1955 in England. She gained fame as an English model and actress. Jordan became most well-known for her work with fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and the boutique 'SEX' on Kings Road, London in the mid-1970s. She also attracted a lot of attention with her performances at early 'Sex Pistols' concerts.

Punk Movement and Controversy

Jordan, along with Johnny Rotten, Soo Catwoman, and Siouxsie Sioux, is considered one of the pioneers of the London punk community. Her distinctive style, featuring a voluminous peroxide-blonde hairstyle and dark raccoon-like eye makeup, made her one of the most notable figures of the London punk movement.

However, her striking appearance often brought her nothing but trouble. Tourists constantly tried to take pictures with her, but the real problems came from the "concerned mothers" who didn't miss a chance to criticize Jordan for the supposed moral decay of their precious children and accuse her of all possible sins. She even came close to being thrown out of a train once, leading the British railway authorities to recommend that Jordan travel first class to minimize the risk.

Music and Film Career

In the late 1970s, Jordan worked with 'Adam and the Ants'. Around the same time, she collaborated with British DJ John Peel's group and even provided vocals for one of their songs called 'Lou'. From mid-1977 to May 1978, Jordan performed as part of the 'Peel Sessions', but their paths eventually diverged.

Jordan also had a notable film career. She played a small role in Derek Jarman's debut film 'Sebastiane' and the lead role in his film 'Jubilee'. In addition to these roles, she appeared in Julien Temple's 'The Great Rock and Roll Swindle'.

Current Life

As of now, Jordan has changed her profession and works as a nurse at a veterinary clinic while also breeding Burmese cats. It remains uncertain whether she has any plans to return to her vibrant punk youth in the future.
