Childhood and Early Career
Jean Clarey, a renowned French alpine skier, first embarked on his skiing journey at the tender age of five, guided by his father.From 1996 onwards, Clarey participated in FIS-sanctioned competitions, primarily focusing on domestic events within France for the following five years.

Rise Through the Ranks
Recognizing his potential, Clarey expanded his horizons to the European Cup in the 2000/2001 season, followed by the South American Cup the following year.His debut in the prestigious World Cup came on November 29, 2003, at Lake Louise, Canada.
Over the next few years, Clarey showcased his exceptional talent in the European Cup, culminating in a victory in the downhill category for the 2006/2007 season.This success propelled him to the podium of the World Cup for the first time on December 19, 2009, in Val Gardena, Italy, where he finished third in the downhill event.
Olympic Appearances and National Triumphs
In 2010, Clarey represented France at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.Despite his best efforts, he placed 27th in the downhill and failed to finish the super combined event.
2011 marked his debut at the World Championships, where he narrowly missed a podium finish in the downhill, securing eighth place.Shortly after, he achieved his maiden French championship victory in the downhill discipline.
World Record and Missed Opportunities
In 2013, Clarey etched his name in skiing history by setting the world record for the highest speed recorded on skis at 161.9 km/h.However, a severe knee injury prevented him from competing at that year's World Championships.
At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Clarey was considered a medal contender in the downhill but unfortunately crashed before reaching the finish line.Nonetheless, he managed to secure a second-place finish at the Kvitfjell World Cup stage on March 1, 2014.
Later Career and Equipment
Despite strong performances, Clarey's results at the 2015 World Championships were underwhelming, placing 16th in the downhill and 30th in the super giant slalom.
Throughout his career, Clarey has relied on the reliable equipment from Head skis.
