Johanna Konta was born on May 17, 1991, in Sydney, Australia, to a family with Hungarian roots. Initially representing Australia, she officially became a British citizen in May 2012. Since then, she has competed in tournaments on behalf of Great Britain.

Professional Career Highlights

Konta has been participating in the women's professional ITF Circuit tournaments. On September 17, 2012, she achieved her highest ranking in the WTA singles category, reaching the 147th position. Throughout her career, Konta has had notable victories, including winning the Challenger in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and becoming the new face of the brand 'BlackBerry'. Her biggest career victory to date came in 2010 at the RBC Bank Women's Challenger in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she defeated Lindsay Lee-Waters in the final. She also won an ITF tournament in Belgium by defeating Nicky Van Dyck.

In June 2011, Konta qualified for her first WTA tournament, the e-Boks Sony Ericsson Open in Copenhagen. Although she lost in the first round to Lucie Safarova, she continued to make progress in her career. In July 2011, Konta won the AEGON GB Pro-Series ITF singles tournament, defeating Laura Robson in the final. Despite occasional injuries that forced her to withdraw from competitions, Konta continued to excel, winning another ITF tournament in Madrid by defeating Lucy Brown in the final.

Konta faced both victories and defeats in Grand Slam tournaments. She was unable to advance to the main draw of the WTA Family Circle Cup in 2011, losing to Sania Mirza. In Wimbledon 2012, she lost in the first round to Christina McHale. However, she earned the opportunity to compete in the US Open 2012 and won her first-round match against Timea Babos before being defeated by Olga Govortsova in the second round. Following Wimbledon, Konta entered the Top 150 players in the world rankings for the first time.
