Early Career

John Bosman began his football journey at Roda '23 and RKVIK. In 1983, at the age of 18, he joined the prestigious Ajax Amsterdam.

Ajax Amsterdam (1983-1988)

Record-Breaking Goalscorer

Bosman debuted for Ajax in 1983 and quickly established himself as a prolific scorer. In five seasons, he netted 105 goals in 165 appearances, ranking him among Ajax's top scorers of all time. He became the team's leading marksman after Marco van Basten's departure, scoring 25 goals in the 1987/88 campaign.

UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Finalist

Bosman participated in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final against Mechelen in 1988. Despite his efforts, Mechelen prevailed under the guidance of former Ajax coach Aad de Mos.

Belgian Champion and European Success

Bosman joined Mechelen after the UEFA Cup final. In his first season, he scored 18 goals in 30 appearances and helped the club win the Belgian First Division title. Mechelen also triumphed in the European Super Cup against PSV Eindhoven.

Impressive Goalscoring Form

In his second and final season at Mechelen, Bosman scored 16 goals in 31 matches, finishing third in the Belgian scoring charts. The club secured a third-place finish, behind Club Brugge and Anderlecht.

Return to the Netherlands and International Career

Eredivisie Success with PSV (1990-1991)

In 1990, Bosman returned to the Netherlands and joined PSV Eindhoven. He claimed another Eredivisie title, contributing 11 goals in 30 appearances during his solitary season.

Debut and Success with the Oranje (1986-1997)

Bosman earned his Netherlands debut in 1986. He scored 17 goals in 30 appearances, including five in an 8-0 rout of Cyprus and three in a 4-0 return match. Bosman was part of the Dutch squad that won the 1988 European Championship, but he did not play in the final.

Continued Career in Belgium and the Netherlands

Success with Anderlecht (1991-1996)

Bosman joined Anderlecht, where he won three Belgian First Division titles and one Belgian Cup in five seasons, scoring 71 goals in 156 appearances.

Later Career with Twente and AZ

After leaving Anderlecht, Bosman returned to the Netherlands and enjoyed a successful spell at FC Twente, finishing third in the 1996/97 season. He ended his career at AZ Alkmaar, scoring 22 goals in 62 appearances.
