Bernal completed his education at the University of Cambridge in 1922. Following his graduation, he worked at the Davy-Faraday Laboratory in London from 1923 to 1927. During this time, he conducted research on various materials, including graphite, metals, water, styrene, hormones, vitamins, proteins, viruses, and construction materials such as cement.

Academic and Scientific Achievements

In 1927, Bernal joined the University of Cambridge, where he worked until 1937. He then became a professor at the University of London. Bernal's most notable scientific works revolved around the field of crystallography. In 1933, he proposed the Bernal model of ice, which explained the behavior of water in all compounds. He also conducted research on the theory of liquid state and made significant contributions to understanding the structures of various materials.
