Boa's triumph was no easy feat. His classic oat, water, and salt combination faced fierce competition from culinary creations from around the world, including entries from California. Yet, Boa emerged victorious, surpassing even last year's champion, Neal Robertson from Auchtermuchty. Robertson, however, found his own moment of glory by winning the Specialty Category with his delectable blueberry jam porridge.

The 50-year-old Boa credits his passion for cycling with his porridge-making expertise. He has twice cycled the length of Britain, from Land's End to John o' Groats, relying solely on his homemade porridge for sustenance. The simplicity and nourishment of oats made it the ideal fuel for his epic journeys, allowing him to carry a week's supply in his backpack.
