Early Life and Career
John Henry Kinkead was born in Smithfield, Pennsylvania. His political career began in 1862, when he served as Treasurer of the Nevada Territory.
Governor of Nevada
In 1879, Kinkead became the third Governor of the State of Nevada. He held this office until 1883. During his tenure, he played a significant role in the development of Nevada's infrastructure and economy.
Governor of Alaska
After leaving the governorship of Nevada, Kinkead was appointed the first Governor of the District of Alaska in 1884. He served in this position until 1885.
Later Life
Upon his return from Alaska, Kinkead retired from public life and resided in Carson City, Nevada. He passed away in the city in an unknown year.
