John van den Brom

John van den Brom, a former Dutch footballer, began his career at APWC, a youth club in his hometown of Amersfoort. He later moved to Quick 1890 before joining Vitesse Arnhem in 1986.

Vitesse Years

Van den Brom made his debut for Vitesse in a second-tier match against Eindhoven, which ended in a 3-1 victory. Over seven seasons with the club, he scored 80 goals in 225 appearances.

Ajax Success

In 1993, van den Brom joined Ajax Amsterdam. He spent two seasons there, playing 44 matches and scoring seven goals. During this time, Ajax won back-to-back Eredivisie titles in 1993/94 and 1994/95.

International Career

Van den Brom represented the Netherlands twice. He made his debut in a 8-0 rout of Malta in 1990 and played a second match against San Marino in 1993, scoring his only international goal.

Turkey and Return to Vitesse

After a brief stint with Turkish club Istanbulspor in 1995/96, van den Brom returned to Vitesse, where he spent five more seasons. He then moved to De Graafschap in 2000.

Coaching Career

Upon retiring in 2003, van den Brom remained at De Graafschap as a scout and coach for their amateur team. In 2004, he joined Ajax as a youth coach before becoming manager of AGOVV Apeldoorn in 2007. From May 2010, he led ADO Den Haag until 2019.

Current Role

Since 2019, van den Brom has been the head coach of AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie.
