Biography of Johnny Lewis
Johnny Lewis, an American actor, began his career with teenage roles in TV series such as "The O.C." and "American Dreams." His full name is Jonathan Kendrick "Johnny" Lewis. He was born on October 29, 1983, in Los Angeles, California, and was the second of three children to Divona and Michael Lewis. He holds dual Canadian-American citizenship.
Early Life and Education
Johnny Lewis attended a small performing arts school founded by his mother, Divona Lewis, a highly experienced teacher, in 1993.
Career
Lewis made his acting debut in 2000, playing the role of Gilby in the teenage romantic comedy "The Sausage Factory." He also appeared in several popular TV series such as "7th Heaven," "Judging Amy," and "The Guardian," which led to his participation in 13 episodes of the MTV series "Now What?," based on the TV movie "The Sausage Factory."
He then landed notable roles in teen-oriented series like "Boston Public" and "Drake & Josh," as well as the TV drama "American Dreams" and the sitcom "Quintuplets." In 2004, Lewis had his first film role in the youth comedy "Raise Your Voice" starring Hilary Duff. The following year, he appeared in two more films, "Pretty Persuasion" and "Underclassman."
Lewis gained recognition for his role as Dennis "Chili" Childress in the TV series "The O.C.," where he played one of Marissa Cooper's new friends at Newport Union High School. He also appeared in 26 episodes of the crime drama "Sons of Anarchy," playing the character Kip "Half Sack" Epps. However, his character was written out of the show after his character's death in the second season finale.
Tattoos and Scientology
Tattoos in the shape of stars on both of Lewis' shoulders can be seen in the film "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem" and "Sons of Anarchy." It appears that he had these tattoos before filming "Raise Your Voice." Like Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Kelly Preston, Johnny Lewis was a follower of Scientology, a religious-philosophical teaching created by L. Ron Hubbard. His family also belongs to the same religion.
At present, two films starring Lewis, "The City of Gardens" and "Magic Valley," are preparing for release.
