Early Life and Career

Jonathan Pryce was born on 1 June 1947, in Holywell, North Wales. He received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, where he honed his craft. After graduating, he spent several seasons performing at the Liverpool Playhouse.

Broadway and London Success

In 1976, Pryce made a splash in London in the play "Comedians." The performance was so well-received that it was transferred to Broadway, where Pryce earned a Tony Award (the theatrical equivalent of an Oscar). He continued his Broadway career with roles in the musicals "Miss Saigon" and "Oliver!"
