Biography of Jorge Wagner

Jorge Wagner is a Brazilian football player who played as a midfielder for Sao Paulo. He began his career in 2000 in his home state, playing for Bahia, and a year later, he received an invitation to join Cruzeiro, where he became a regular player. In 2003, Jorge Wagner and Leandro acquired the Russian club Lokomotiv, but the Brazilian players struggled to establish themselves as they were mostly played out of their usual positions. In the second half of the year, Jorge Wagner was loaned to Corinthians where he played 18 matches and scored 2 goals. In 2004, the player returned to Russia, but he continued to struggle for a place in the starting lineup, only being fielded as a winger four times in the Russian league, mostly in a central position. However, these four matches eventually allowed him to become a champion of Russia. In 2005, Jorge Wagner was loaned to Internacional, where he earned a high reputation and was even considered for the Brazilian national team. At the end of the championship, Internacional finished in second place, narrowly missing out on the title due to a referee scandal and subsequent replays.

Move to Spain and Brazil

In the first half of 2006, Jorge Wagner remained a player of Lokomotiv while being on loan at Internacional. The Russian club had the option to recall the player according to the contract, but the intervention of Internacional's officials helped Jorge Wagner, who was recognized as the best right-back in Brazil, to stay with Colorado. As a result, the team won the Copa Libertadores for the first time in its history. Immediately after this, Jorge Wagner's contract with Lokomotiv expired, and as a free agent, he joined Spanish club Real Betis. There, he played 10 matches in the first half of the Spanish league, and in early 2007, he accepted an offer to move to Sao Paulo, a team with much bigger ambitions than a team fighting for survival in the Spanish league. In the end, together with his former teammate from Lokomotiv, Leandro, Jorge Wagner became a champion of Brazil in 2007. In 2008, he signed a three-year contract with Sao Paulo, which ran until the end of 2010.
