Luis Aragones, a Spanish football player and coach, was born in the district of Ortalesa in Madrid. He is considered one of the most authoritative and experienced coaches in Spanish football, earning the nickname "The Wise Man from Ortalesa." Aragones dedicated his entire life to football and was entrusted with preparing the national team for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Aragones began his football career in 1957, playing for the third division club, Getafe. His talent was noticed by scouts from Real Madrid, who invited him to join the club. However, it was at Atletico Madrid, another club in the capital, where Aragones truly shined. He played 265 matches for Atletico, scoring 123 goals.

In 1974, Aragones transitioned into coaching and went on to manage several well-known teams, including Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, and of course, Atletico Madrid. Over the course of 30 years, Aragones led his teams onto the field a remarkable 757 times, surpassing many of his renowned colleagues in this regard.

Known for his strict discipline and explosive character, Aragones often did not hold back in his expressions while sitting on the coach's bench. He was twice offered the opportunity to lead the Spanish national team, in 1998 and 2002, after the team's failures in the European and World Championships, but he declined on both occasions. However, Aragones finally accepted the offer and saw this appointment as the pinnacle of his life, fully dedicated to football, according to Raul Gonzalez, the team captain.

Luis Aragones is married and, at the age of 66, continues to leave his mark on the football world.
