Biography of Josep Gomes
Josep Gomes is a professional football player from Andorra. He is a goalkeeper for the club "Ilescas" and the Andorran national team. Gomes began his career in 2004, playing for "Andorra", then moving on to play for "Eivissa-Ibiza". He later played for "Ciudad de Vicar", "San Rafael", and "Carabanchel". In 2013, he became a player for "Fortuna" in Leganes, and then played for the French team "Pennuaz". In 2015, Gomes joined the Andorran team "Unio Esportiva Santa Coloma". He has also represented Andorra in various youth national teams. Since 2006, Gomes has been the main goalkeeper for the Andorran national team, having played 37 matches so far.
Club Career
Gomes started his career in 2004 with the club "Andorra", based in the capital of Andorra, playing in the 7th division of Spanish football. He spent two years with the team. In the summer of 2006, he moved to the club "Eivissa-Ibiza". In the 2006/07 season, Gomes played alongside other Andorrans, such as Marsio Vieira, Sergi Moreno, and Antoni Lima. The team became the champion of the fourth division of Spain (Tercera), and was promoted to a higher level. Gomes played in 11 matches during that season. In the following season, he was the only Andorran player in the team, playing in 21 matches and helping his team to a 7th place finish in the league. In the 2008/09 season, "Eivissa-Ibiza" finished 18th out of 20 teams in their group and was relegated from the third division of Spanish football. Gomes played in 15 matches during that season, totaling 47 matches for the club. He spent a long time as the team's second goalkeeper.
In the summer of 2009, Gomes joined the club "Ciudad de Vicar" as a free agent and played in the fourth division of Spanish football, appearing in 17 matches during the 2009/10 season. In 2010, he became a player for "San Rafael", which also competed in the Segunda Division B, playing a total of 33 games. He then played for the club "Carabanchel" during the 2011/12 season. In the winter of 2013, he became a player for the club "Fortuna" in Leganes. He played in 44 matches for the team and scored 1 goal. In the summer of 2014, he moved to the French team "Pennuaz", playing in 2 matches and conceding 1 goal. In 2014, he joined the team "Unio Esportiva Santa Coloma" and played in 6 games during the 2014/15 Andorran championship, conceding 10 goals. International Career
Gomes represented the Andorran youth national teams, playing for the under-17 and under-19 teams in the qualifying rounds for the European Youth Championship in 2002. He played 1 game for the under-17 team and 3 games for the under-19 team. He also played 2 matches for the under-21 national team.
In 2005, Gomes was invited to join the senior national team of Andorra by the head coach David Rodrigo. He made his debut on August 16, 2006, in an away friendly match against Belarus (3-0). He became the first-choice goalkeeper for the team after the retirement of Koldo in 2009. Gomes played in 37 matches for the Andorran national team, conceding 87 goals.
