Early Career and DebutBorn on March 5, 1989, Jonathan Cristaldo is an Argentinian professional footballer who plays as a striker. He made his professional debut for Vélez Sarsfield on April 22, 2007, as a substitute against Rosario Central. Despite losing the match 2-0, Cristaldo's 37-minute performance marked the beginning of his illustrious career.
Rising Star at Vélez Sarsfield
Cristaldo's first professional goal came in the 14th round of the Apertura against the same Rosario Central. Replacing a teammate in the second half, he played for 45 minutes and found the back of the net. In the 2009 Clausura, Vélez Sarsfield emerged as champions, earning Cristaldo his first major trophy.
Transfer to Metalist Kharkiv
In December 2010, reports emerged linking Cristaldo with a transfer to Ukrainian club Metalist Kharkiv. On January 8, 2011, he traveled to Kharkiv alongside Sebastian Blanco and signed a five-year contract. Choosing the number 21, Cristaldo made his debut for Metalist in the 2011 season.
International Debut
In January 2010, then-Argentina coach Diego Maradona summoned Cristaldo to the national team for a friendly against Costa Rica. Although he was not deployed on the pitch, he made his international debut on June 5, 2011, against Poland. Playing the full 90 minutes, Argentina lost the match 2-1.
