Early Life and Education
Franz Anton Maulbertsch was an Austrian painter known for his historical and religious works. Born in Aschach an der Donau, Upper Austria, he studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts.
Career in Poland and Vienna
From 1794 to 1796, Maulbertsch worked in Poland, primarily for Prince Czartoryski. Upon his return to Vienna, he continued painting and in 1801 was sponsored by the Vienna Academy to study in Italy.
Italian Sojourn and Notable Works
In Italy, Maulbertsch created some of his most significant works, including:

- "The Raising of Lazarus"- "The Holy Family"
Return to Vienna and Religious Paintings
After his time in Italy, Maulbertsch returned to Vienna. He executed numerous altarpiece paintings, notable for their dramatic compositions and vibrant colors:
