Biography of Josh Ryan Evans

Josh Ryan Evans, an American actor, was born on January 10, 1982, in Hayward, California, USA. He began his acting career at the age of 12, appearing in various commercials. In 1990, Evans made his big screen debut in the science fiction comedy "Baby Geniuses" alongside Kathleen Turner and Christopher Lloyd, playing the role of a "baby." The following year, he landed a role in director Ron Howard's Oscar-nominated family comedy "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" starring Jim Carrey. In this family Christmas tale, Joshua portrayed an eight-year-old Grinch.

A Challenging Condition and Early Success

Despite his young age, Evans gained recognition for his role as Timmy in the soap opera "Passions." Due to a skeletal dysplasia condition called achondroplasia, Evans had a dwarf-like appearance. This condition hindered the growth of his limbs to normal proportions, resulting in a height of just over 96 cm. Despite his physical challenges, Evans continued to pursue his acting career.

A Diverse Acting Career

In addition to his memorable roles in "Baby Geniuses" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," Evans portrayed the character of the "Boyfinger" in the miniseries "The Great Combino" and made guest appearances in popular television shows such as "Ally McBeal" as Oren Kooly, "7th Heaven" as Adam, and provided voiceover work in "Poltergeist: The Legacy." He also lent his voice to the animated series "Hey Arnold!"

Recognition and Tragic Passing

In 1999, Evans began playing the character of Timmy in the soap opera "Passions." Timmy was a doll brought to life by the evil witch Tabitha Lenox. Although initially planned to become an angel and have a longer presence on the show, the storyline was rewritten to have Evans' character leave the series. Nevertheless, for his work in "Passions," Evans received a nomination for an Emmy Award in 2000 and won two Soap Opera Digest Awards in 2000 and 2001.

Tragically, Josh Ryan Evans passed away on August 5, 2002, due to complications related to congenital heart disease. He was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.
