Biography of Joshua Jackson

Joshua Carter Jackson is a Canadian-American film and television actor, nominated for the Satellite Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. He was born on June 11, 1978, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His mother, Fiona Jackson, was an immigrant from Ireland, and his father, John Carter, was from Texas. Joshua has a sister named Aisla and step-siblings from his father's first marriage named Lyman and Jonathan.

When Joshua was eight years old, his family moved to California, USA. After his parents divorced, he and his sisters took their mother's last name and relocated to Seattle, where Joshua attended Einstein Middle School. They later returned to Vancouver, Canada, where Joshua continued his education and received his high school diploma from Ideal Mini School.

Acting Career

Joshua Jackson's acting career began with voice work on the animated series "The Simpsons". He then appeared in a minor role in the film "Crooked Hearts" in 1991. In 1992 and 1994, Joshua starred in both parts of the film "The Mighty Ducks" and in "Digger" in 1993. He also had several small roles in films and TV shows, including a role in the film "Scream 2".

However, his breakthrough came with the TV series "Dawson's Creek" in 1998. During his time on the show, Joshua Jackson received five consecutive Teen Choice Awards nominations from 1999 to 2003, winning the award three times. He also continued to work in films simultaneous to his TV career, appearing in movies such as "Urban Legend" (1998), "Cruel Intentions" (1999), "Gossip" and "The Skulls" (both in 2000), "I Love Your Work" (2003), and several others.

In 2006, Joshua experienced new success with his role in the film "Bobby". He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and won a prize at the Hollywood Film Festival for his performance. In November 2002, Joshua Jackson was arrested for assaulting a hockey game security guard. He was found to have a significant amount of alcohol in his system and was fined $1,000. Joshua later underwent treatment for alcohol addiction.

Personal Life

Joshua Jackson has never been married, but he has had romantic relationships with actresses Katie Holmes, Brittany Daniel, Julia Stiles, Rosario Dawson, and model/actress Diane Kruger.
