Biography of José-Victor Castil
José-Victor Castil is a renowned actor who has gained immense popularity for his roles in Brazilian television series. Born in Porto Alegre, he has always had a passion for both law and acting. José-Victor spent eight years juggling his career as a successful lawyer specializing in copyright law and pursuing his acting aspirations on the theater stage.
It was his belief in luck and optimism that eventually led him to his true calling. José-Victor's talent and magnetic personality caught the attention of a leading television company in Brazil. He signed a contract with them and began appearing in some of the most famous Globo series.
One of his most memorable characters was Viriato, a funny and endearing overweight man struggling with sexual problems. Surprisingly, this role not only brought him nationwide love and fame but also led to some awkward encounters in real life. People would often mistake him for the character and sympathize with him, sharing their own stories of impotence. Despite never experiencing such issues himself, José-Victor found it both amusing and slightly disheartening.
In preparation for the role, José-Victor intentionally gained weight because the character's description in the script emphasized his obesity. He struggled to shed the extra pounds after the series' conclusion, resorting to a strict diet of rice and sushi. The rapid weight loss became a challenging ordeal for him, constantly checking his weight and panicking if he didn't see progress.
José-Victor is married to Cécilia, a psychoanalyst, and they have two children together, 11-year-old Alice and 7-year-old Victor. Despite his success and rising career, the family continues to reside in Porto Alegre. Every year, in January and February, José-Victor organizes charity performances with his theater friends, calling it "Fun Summer in Porto." This event allows him to give back to the community and stay connected to his roots.
José-Victor Castil is not only loved and admired by his fans but also by his colleagues and friends. His infectious humor and positive outlook on life make him a well-liked person in the industry. He believes that he has no enemies because he loves everyone, and he considers himself fortunate to have found success in both his professions.
