The Hungarian Politician

László Dezső was a Hungarian politician and physician. Born in Makó, he practiced as an obstetrician and pediatrician in his hometown.

Affiliation with the Arrow Cross Party

In 1939, Dezső joined the pro-Nazi Arrow Cross Party and became a close associate of its leader, Ferenc Szálasi. In 1940, he was imprisoned during the Horthy regime's crackdown on the Arrow Cross.

Rise to Leadership

Released in 1942, Dezső was appointed Deputy Leader of the Arrow Cross Party. After World War II, he was convicted of war crimes committed in Hungary and executed with Szálasi and Károly Beregffy.

Role in Raoul Wallenberg's Humanitarian Mission

Despite his association with the Arrow Cross, contemporary historians have acknowledged Dezső's role in assisting Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat who saved thousands of Hungarian Jews from the Holocaust.

Legacy
