Early Life and Education
Jim Inhofe is an American politician and the senior United States Senator from Oklahoma. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on November 17, 1934. Inhofe earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University in 1970 and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1983.
Medical Career and Business Ventures
Prior to entering politics, Inhofe worked as an obstetrician and gynecologist. He founded Inhofe and Associates, a real estate development company, and served as its president until 1994.
Political Career
House of RepresentativesInhofe began his political career in 1995 when he was elected to the United States House of Representatives as a Republican. He served three terms in the House, representing Oklahoma's 1st congressional district.
United States Senate
In 2004, Inhofe was elected to the United States Senate, replacing retiring Senator Don Nickles. He has been re-elected to the Senate four times since then. In the Senate, Inhofe has served on several committees, including the Armed Services Committee and the Environment and Public Works Committee.
Political Views
Inhofe is a conservative Republican and a strong supporter of President Donald Trump. He is a vocal critic of environmental regulations and climate change science.
