Early Career

József Zakariás was a renowned Hungarian footballer who achieved great success as both a player and a coach. His career spanned from 1941 to 1958, where he played for various teams, primarily as a midfielder and defender.

Club Career

Zakariás began his professional career with "Kabelyar" in 1941. Subsequently, he played for "Gamma," "Budai," and "Budai MSE" before joining "Mteos Munkas" in 1946. He briefly played for "Teherfuvar" and "Flora Budapest" in 1950. From 1951 to 1956, he was a member of "Bastia," later renamed "Vörös Lobogo." Zakariás concluded his playing career with "Éditertertes" in 1958.

International Success

As a member of the Hungarian national team, Zakariás played a pivotal role in their victories. He participated in the 1952 Olympics, where Hungary claimed the gold medal. In the 1954 FIFA World Cup, the team achieved the distinction of becoming world runners-up.

Coaching Career

After retiring from playing, Zakariás transitioned into coaching. He led "Sigentcentmiklos" from 1959 to 1960. Notably, from 1961 to 1968, he managed the Guinea national team. Subsequently, he coached "Erdert Medos" from 1968 to 1971.
