Biography of Juan Carlos Navarro

Juan Carlos Navarro Feijoo, also known as La Bomba, is a professional Spanish basketball player who is best known as a guard for FC Barcelona. He was born in 1980 in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Barcelona, Catalonia.

Early Career

Navarro began playing for FC Barcelona in his teenage years, starting in the youth team. At the age of 17, in November 1997, he made his debut for the senior team in the Spanish Championship. In that game, he played for 10 minutes and scored 10 points. He played for the senior team while also playing in the third division until the 1999/2000 season when he became a permanent member of the main team. His performance and value gradually increased, and by the 2003/2004 season, Navarro was already one of the recognized leaders of the team.

Success with FC Barcelona

During this period, FC Barcelona achieved significant success, winning almost all competitions in the season, including the Euroleague (Euroleague 2002-03) and the Triple Crown. With Navarro's participation, the team won the ACB Championship five times and the Spanish King's Cup four times. In 2006, Navarro received the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the ACB. He was also named the MVP of the Euroleague in 2009.

NBA Stint and Return to FC Barcelona

In the 2002 NBA draft, Navarro was selected by the Washington Wizards as the 40th overall pick. However, he decided to stay with FC Barcelona and did not immediately join the NBA. In August 2007, the Wizards traded his rights to the Memphis Grizzlies, and Navarro joined the NBA for the 2007/2008 season. He played for one season in the NBA before deciding to return to FC Barcelona.

International Career

Navarro made his debut for the Spanish national team in 2000 during the Olympic Basketball Tournament in Sydney. He also represented Spain in the FIBA European Under-18 Championship in 1998. In 2001, Navarro had a remarkable performance in the FIBA European Championship, scoring 27 points in the game for the bronze medal against Germany. He participated in two Olympic tournaments, winning a silver medal in Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008. Navarro was also a world champion with the Spanish national team in 2006 and a two-time European champion in 2009 and 2011.

Later Career and Retirement

In November 2011, Navarro extended his contract with FC Barcelona until 2015. He expressed his pride in being able to finish his career with the same club where he started many years ago. In 2011, he became the all-time leading scorer in Euroleague history. Navarro retired from professional basketball in 2018.

Throughout his career with FC Barcelona, Juan Carlos Navarro won two Euroleague titles, multiple Spanish championships, and cups. With the Spanish national team, he won a silver medal in the Olympics, a gold medal in the World Championship, and two European championships.
