Biography of Juan Diego Flores
Juan Diego Flores is a Peruvian opera singer and tenor who has received high praise from both audiences and critics, earning him the nickname "golden boy". Some experts consider him one of the best contemporary lyric tenors. He is also the recipient of the highest state honor in his country, the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru.
Juan Diego Flores Salom is the son of singer and guitarist Ruben Flores Pinedo, a performer of Peruvian creole music who worked with the famous singer Chabuca Granda, and Maria Teresa Salom, the sister of Carlos Salom, a member of one of Peru's most well-known experimental music groups, Laghonia.
He began his career as a performer of popular music, doing cover versions of songs by The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. He studied at Santa Margarita College in Monterrico, Lima, where he met singer Gianmarco and Katushka, a vocalist from the group Conexion Limbica.
He received his education at the National Conservatory of Peru, followed by studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, USA, from 1993 to 1996. He also took private lessons from Marilyn Horne and Ernesto Palacio. In November 2012, he was awarded the honorary title of Kammersänger in Vienna.

Juan Diego Flores possesses a vocal type known as "elegant tenor" or "tenore di grazia" in Italian.
