Early Career and Move to Botafogo
Born and bred in Brazil, Mineiro began his professional football journey at CSA. However, his true breakthrough came in 2000 when he joined the legendary Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas in Rio de Janeiro. Despite his initial promise, he failed to cement his place in the starting lineup, leading to a series of transfers over the next two years.
Stability at São Paulo and International Success
In 2003, Mineiro found stability at São Paulo Futebol Clube. Gradually establishing themselves as one of Brazil's top teams, São Paulo achieved tremendous success during his tenure. Mineiro was a key figure in the club's victory in the Copa Libertadores in 2005, followed by the FIFA Club World Cup later that year.
Symbolic and Technical Midfielder
Throughout São Paulo's golden era, Mineiro was renowned for his technical brilliance and intelligent play in midfield. His exceptional skills were recognized in 2006 when he was included in the Brazilian Championship's "Symbolic Team."
European Adventure and Return to Brazil
In 2008, Mineiro sought a new challenge in Europe, joining Paris Saint-Germain. Despite his previous accomplishments, he struggled to adapt to the European lifestyle. However, he contributed to PSG's victory in the Coupe de la Ligue before being loaned to Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense in August 2008.
Triumphs and Scorer in Grêmio
In 2009, Grêmio acquired Mineiro's full rights. Since then, he has flourished, emerging as a prolific goalscorer. He has consistently ranked among the top scorers in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, showcasing his continued excellence.
