Biography of Julio Iglesias Jr.
Early LifeJulio Jose Iglesias Preysler, known as Julio Iglesias Jr., was born in Madrid in 1973. He is the son of Spanish singer Julio Iglesias and Spanish-Filipino journalist and television presenter Isabel Preysler. Julio has two siblings, older brother Enrique Iglesias and younger sister Chabeli Iglesias. When his parents divorced in 1979, Julio moved to Miami and continued to live with his father. He attended Menlo College, a private college located in Silicon Valley.
Modeling and Television Career
With the help of his father and his manager Darius Jordi Lassus, Julio started his career in the modeling industry. He signed an exclusive contract with Ford Models, a New York-based modeling agency, and participated in a Versace advertising campaign. He also signed a contract with Ruben Malaret to expand his English-speaking audience. Julio's notable achievements at that time included appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show, featuring in a Gap advertisement, and participating in designer John Bartlett VII's Sixth Fashion Show.
Julio had opportunities to act in two soap operas, one from Televisa and the other from ABC's All My Children, as well as the chance to play the lead role in the musical "Brigadoon." However, he turned down these offers to focus on his music career.
Music Career
Julio signed a contract with Epic Records and traveled to Miami to record his debut album titled "Under My Eyes," which was released in 1999. However, the album did not achieve much success in the United States, leading Julio to end his collaboration with Epic Records. In 2014, Julio joined the group Latin Lovers, and they released a self-titled album.
Personal Life
In October 1999, Julio changed his name to Julio Iglesias Jr. In May 2011, after eight years of dating, he got engaged to Belgian top model Charisse Verhaert. They had their wedding ceremony on November 3, 2012, in Spain.
