Education and Early Career
Karl-Hans Warnke, a notable German politician, commenced his education at Munich, Geneva, and Würzburg after obtaining his secondary school certificate in 1950. He pursued studies in law and political economy, earning a doctorate in 1958 for his dissertation on intra-party democracy in French political parties.
Political Affiliations
Warnke joined the Christian Social Union (CSU) in 1958, establishing a career in politics. He served as a member of the Bavarian Landtag from 1962 to 1970 and the German Bundestag from 1969 to 1998.
Prominent Roles
Within the Bundestag, Warnke chaired the Committee on Foreign Trade Policy from 1969 to 1980 and served as Deputy Chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group from 1980 to 1982. With Helmut Kohl's ascent to power, Warnke entered the Federal Government on October 4, 1982, as the Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.
