Born into the Cambodian royal family in 1954, Norodom Arun Rasmey is a princess, politician, and diplomat. Her father, Norodom Sihanouk, was the King of Cambodia twice, and her mother, Mam Manivan Panivong, was Queen Consort.

Education and Early Career

Arun Rasmey received her secondary education in Cambodia. She spent the years of the Cambodian Civil War, the Pol Pot genocide, and the Cambodian conflict in the United States. After returning to Cambodia, she worked in financial institutions in Long Beach, California, and New York City.

Diplomacy and Party Politics

Following the Paris Peace Accords, Arun Rasmey returned to Cambodia and held various diplomatic roles. She was Deputy and later Director of the Agricultural Bank, a member of the Cambodian Red Cross, and a member of the ASEAN Women's Circle. In 2004, she was appointed Cambodian Ambassador to Malaysia.

Arun Rasmey is a member of the royalist party FUNCINPEC. After her brother Norodom Ranariddh was removed as party President in 2006, Arun Rasmey and her husband, Keo Puth Rasmey, assumed leadership roles. Arun Rasmey served as President of FUNCINPEC from 2013 to 2015. She ran for Prime Minister of Cambodia twice as a FUNCINPEC candidate.

Leadership in FUNCINPEC

As President of FUNCINPEC, Arun Rasmey advocated for strengthening the monarchy, promoting civil peace, and protecting Cambodia's territorial integrity. However, FUNCINPEC failed to gain significant success in the 2008 and 2013 elections. Norodom Ranariddh resumed his role as party President in January 2015, and Arun Rasmey stepped down as Vice President in March 2015.

Honors and Family

King Sihanouk bestowed upon Arun Rasmey the titles of Preah and Samdech in 1994 and 2004, respectively. She has also received several royal orders. She has been married twice, first to Prince Sisowath Sirirath in 1970 and then to Keo Puth Rasmey in 1991. She has five children from both marriages.
