Justice Christopher: Nigerian Football Defender
Early Career and International DebutJustice Christopher, a Nigerian football defender, began his career in his home country with Katsina United and Bendel Insurance. In 2001, he joined Belgian club Antwerp. In the same year, he captained Nigeria's team at the FIFA World Youth Championship. He made his debut for the senior national team in 2001 and was a key member of the 2002 World Cup squad, playing all three matches.
Manchester Trials and Work Visa Issues
In 2002, Christopher briefly trialled with Manchester City. However, he was unable to participate in games due to visa restrictions. Despite Manchester United's interest, he faced challenges obtaining a work permit due to insufficient playing time for the national team.
Injury and Travels
After a serious injury at Bulgarian club Levski Sofia, Christopher spent time recuperating in Germany. He then joined French side Auxerre for rehabilitation at the request of his friend Taribo West. He later played for Swedish clubs Trelleborg and Göteborg.
Russian and Danish Ventures
In 2005, Christopher signed with Russian club Alania Vladikavkaz. After a stint with Danish club Herfølge in 2006/07, he returned to Nigeria.
Family and Personal Life
Christopher is the eldest of five children, with three sisters and a brother who aspires to follow in his footsteps. His mother runs a clothing store, while his father is a police officer.
