Early Career and Peruvian Success
Yotún began his professional career with Sporting Cristal, joining the club's youth system in 2008. He was immediately loaned to José Gálvez to gain experience, before returning to his parent club at the end of the season. Yotún made his Peruvian Primera División debut for Sporting Cristal on May 9, 2009, in a match against Melgar. His first goal for the club came on March 3, 2010, against Universitario. Yotún played a key role in Sporting Cristal's championship victories in 2012 and 2014.
Loan to Brazil and European Adventure
In 2013, Yotún joined Brazilian club Vasco da Gama on loan. He made his debut in the Série A on May 25 against Portuguesa. After his loan spell ended, Yotún returned to Peru. In early 2015, he moved to Swedish club Malmö, signing a three-year contract. Yotún helped the team win the Allsvenskan league title in 2016.
Move to the MLS and International Career
In the summer of 2017, Yotún made the switch to Orlando City in the United States. He scored his first goal for the MLS club on September 28 against New England Revolution.
Yotún made his international debut for Peru on June 1, 2011, in a Kirin Cup match against Japan. He participated in the 2011 Copa América in Argentina, earning a bronze medal. Yotún scored his first goal for his country in a 2014 World Cup qualifying match against Bolivia on October 15, 2013. He was part of the Peruvian squad that finished third in the 2015 Copa América in Chile.
Copa América Success
Yotún continued to represent Peru in the 2016 Copa América, where he played in matches against Haiti, Ecuador, and Brazil. He also participated in the tournament in 2019, helping his team reach the final. Yotún has been a cornerstone of the Peruvian national team, making significant contributions to their success.
