Biography of Justine Frischmann

Justine Elinor Frischmann, an English artist and musician, is best known for her involvement in the band 'Elastica' in the music industry and her abstract paintings in the art world. She was born in 1969 in London, with her father Wilem Frischman being a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust and her mother being a Russian Jew. Justine grew up in Twickenham and attended St Paul's School before studying at the Bartlett School of Architecture. She later went on to attend University College London.

During her time at college, 20-year-old Justine met Brett Anderson, who is forever associated with the band 'Suede'. They worked together in 'Suede' until 1991, when Justine left the band primarily due to the end of her relationship with Brett. In the same year, Justine began dating Damon Albarn, the lead vocalist of the famous band 'Blur'. The couple separated in 1998.

In 1992, Frischmann founded the band 'Elastica' with Justin Welch. Their debut album, also titled 'Elastica', was released in 1995. However, their next album, 'The Menace', was not released until 2000. 'Elastica' disbanded in 2001.

Meanwhile, Justine Frischmann also pursued her talent as an artist. In 2005, she relocated to Boulder, Colorado, in the United States, to study art at Naropa University. Her artwork gained national recognition, with exhibitions in San Francisco. In 2012, Justine Frischmann was shortlisted for the 'Marmite Prize' and was included in the '1000 Living Painters' list.

In July 2008, Justine married Dr. Ian Faloona, a professor at the University of California-Davis. She currently resides and works in San Francisco.
