Kabiné Komara: A Distinguished Guinean Politician
Early Life and EducationKabiné Komara was born on March 8, 1950, in Kankan, Upper Guinea. He completed his secondary education in Conakry and later graduated with honors from the École Nationale d'Administration in 1973, earning a degree in administration.
Komara pursued further studies abroad, completing an internship at Swiss Credit Bank in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1975. He also attended the Institut Supérieur des Affaires in Paris in 1981 and the École des Relations Internationales et de Gestion in 1982, where he interned at Pechiney Corporation.
Professional Career
Before entering politics, Komara held various administrative and financial positions. He served as Deputy Director of Human Resources at the Guinean Bauxite Company and Director of Aluminum Production in Fria.
In 1990, Komara joined the Transitional Council for National Recovery as the head of national planning and cooperation. For 33 years, he excelled as a specialist in international finance, banking management, and development projects in agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and telecommunications.
Role in Guinean Politics
In 2003, Komara became the Guinean Director of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in Cairo. Amidst political turmoil in 2007, he emerged as a candidate for Prime Minister, but the position was ultimately filled by Lansana Kouyaté.
Prime Ministership
On December 30, 2008, Komara was appointed Prime Minister by President Moussa Dadis Camara. He arrived in Conakry from Cairo the same day and met with President Camara for an extensive meeting.
Legacy
Kabiné Komara's tenure as Prime Minister was cut short on January 21, 2010, due to injuries sustained during a military crackdown. Despite his brief term, he remained a respected figure in Guinean politics and was known for his expertise in development and international relations.
