Kajetan Koźmian was born in 1771 in Wielkie Duczyste, Poland. His literary contributions spanned poetry, criticism, journalism, and prose. He gained prominence as a general director of the administration in the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Kingdom of Poland and later served as a senator.

Literary Pursuits

Koźmian was a staunch advocate of classicism and an opponent of romanticism. His literary repertoire includes two notable poems: "Ziemia?stwo polskie" (1839) and "Stefan Czarniecki" (1858). The latter, an epic inspired by Virgil's "Georgics" and "Aeneid," took him over two decades to complete.

Personal and Legacy

Koźmian's writings offer valuable insights into his life and times. His memoirs, "Pami?tniki," published in censored form in 1859-1865 and in full in 1972, provide a captivating glimpse into his experiences. Koźmian passed away in 1856 and is remembered as a significant figure in Polish literature and the grandfather of renowned poet Stanis?aw Ko?mian.
