Kalev Ermits: Estonian Biathlon Star
Early CareerKalev Ermits is an Estonian biathlete who rose to prominence in the junior ranks. He represented Estonia in three Junior World Championships before making his debut for the senior team in the 2012/2013 World Cup season at the Oberhof stage in Germany, where he finished 87th in the sprint race.
World Cup Career
From the following season onward, Ermits has been a consistent presence on the World Cup circuit. He also competed in two events at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. In late March 2014, he achieved remarkable victories in the sprint and mass start events at the Finnish Biathlon Championships, despite competing outside of the official rankings.
Breakthrough in 2015
On February 7, 2015, Ermits earned his first World Cup points by finishing 30th in the sprint in Nové Město, Czech Republic. A week later, he further improved his standing by placing 20th in the sprint at Holmenkollen, Norway.
Continued Success
Ermits' career highlight came on February 11, 2016, when he finished 19th in the sprint at Presque Isle, Maine, USA. The following day, he ascended to 11th place in the pursuit race, setting a new personal best in a World Cup event.
