Kamala, whose real name is James Harris, was born on May 28, 1950, in Senatobia, Mississippi, United States. James' parents owned a furniture store. He faced serious problems with authority and the law at a young age. For burglary and trespassing, the young American was severely punished and forced to leave his hometown.
James moved to Florida, where he worked as a plumber for some time. At the age of twenty-five, wanting to radically change his own destiny, James went to Michigan, where he coincidentally met wrestler Bobo Brazil. It was then that Harris began serious training under the guidance of his newfound friend Bobo, who turned out to be a professional wrestling coach.
In a short period of time, James Harris achieved great success and progress. Later, he moved to Arkansas, where he continued his intense training. The American wrestler made his professional debut in 1978. That's when James called himself "Sugar Bear." After that, there were other ring nicknames until Harris finally chose the resonant and meaningful name - Kamala.
Since then, Kamala's fighting image has frightened many. It is associated with African tribes and evokes conflicting feelings in opponents.
