Mikhail Mikaelyan: Armenian and Russian Footballer and Coach

Early Career

Mikhail Mikaelyan is a former Armenian, Soviet, and Russian footballer and coach. His football career began in 1987 when he joined Shirak Leninakan. After serving in the military for 1.5 years, he signed a three-year contract with Amur Komsomolsk-on-Amur in 1989.

Club Career

Mikaelyan played for several Russian clubs until 2008. In 1996-1997, he represented Puchon in South Korea, coached by Valeri Nepomniachi. He also spent three months in an Israeli first league team.

International Career

Between 1996 and 1999, Mikaelyan played 20 matches for the Armenian national team, scoring two goals.

Health Challenges

In early 2011, Mikaelyan was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and was fundraising for surgery.

Coaching Career

Since October 2013, Mikaelyan has been a coach for LFK Shiva in the Southern Moscow League (LFL (8x8)).

Heart Transplant

In late 2016, Mikaelyan underwent a heart transplant surgery.
