Jasper C. Kaufman: A Legendary Dutch Footballer and Coach
Early Life and Playing CareerJasper C. Kaufman, a revered Dutch footballer, was born and raised in the Netherlands. His journey into the world of football began with amateur club Watergraafsmeer, where he nurtured his talent before joining Achilles 1894 in 1916. Throughout his impressive career with Achilles, Kaufman showcased exceptional leadership qualities, captaining the team while also assuming prominent roles within the club's management.
International Recognition and Coaching License
In 1922, Kaufman received his first call-up to the Dutch national team for a match against Switzerland, but the opportunity to play on the international stage remained elusive. Nonetheless, he made significant contributions to the football scene by representing the North Holland regional team.
Pioneering Coach and National Team Success
Even before hanging up his boots, Kaufman obtained his coaching license in 1933, becoming one of the earliest licensed coaches in the Netherlands. His coaching debut came in 1940 with Feyenoord, though his tenure with the Rotterdam club was not particularly remarkable.
