Early Life and Education
Carly Kloss was born on August 3, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois. At the age of two, she moved with her family to St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating high school, Kloss enrolled in Caston's Ballet Academy. Despite her love for ballet, her path would take an unexpected turn when she entered the world of modeling.
Discovery and Early Career
In 2007, while participating in a charity fashion show in St. Louis, Kloss was spotted by representatives of Elite Model Management. She signed with the agency and continued her ballet studies at Caston's. Her modeling career quickly took off, as she graced the cover of Teen Vogue in August 2007 and debuted at Calvin Klein's runway show in September.
International Breakthrough
Within months, Kloss was walking for Gucci in Milan and representing Alexander McQueen, Chloé, Valentino, and Viktor & Rolf in Paris Fashion Week. In January 2008, she signed with NEXT Model Management and immediately landed advertising campaigns for Nina Ricci, Gap, Pringle of Scotland, and American Eagle.
Runway Domination
Kloss rapidly became a runway staple, appearing in shows for Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, Givenchy, Gucci, Valentino, and Versace. Her striking features and graceful presence made her a sought-after model. She opened and closed shows for top designers in New York and Milan.
Breaking Barriers
In 2009, Kloss's career reached new heights. She opened shows for Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Valentino in Paris and became the face of Dolce & Gabbana. Her appearance on the cover of British Vogue in February solidified her as a top-tier model.
