Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, on February 5, 1940, Fuad Kasumov completed his secondary education in 1958. In 1961, he enrolled in the Moscow Institute of Radio Electronics and Mining Electromechanics (MIRGEM), graduating in 1966.

Career and Scientific Contributions

Kasumov's career spanned various institutions within the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences, including the Geology Institute (1967-1969), Economics Institute (1969-1970), and Geography Institute (1970-1979). In 1978, he received his Candidate's Degree from the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Geotechnical Mechanics.

From 1979 to 1987, Kasumov worked at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NAN). Subsequently, he joined the Azerbaijani National Aviation and Space Agency (ANAKA) in 1987. As Head of the "Scientific Foundations of Space Monitoring of the Planet" sector, he initiated and participated in the development of thematic research on Earth observation from space.

His extensive research in the field led to his election as a Full Member of the International Informational Academy at the United Nations in 2000.
