Early Life and Family
Kate Ceberano was born on November 17, 1966, in Melbourne, Australia. Her father, Tino Ceberano, was an American of Filipino descent and a karate champion, while her mother was Australian. Kate's maternal ancestors were early settlers and government officials in South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania. Kate's brother, Phil Ceberano, is an actor and composer.
Musical Beginnings
Kate's musical journey began at age 13 when she appeared on the television talent show "Search for a Star." In 1983, she formed the band "I'm Talking" and released three hit singles and a gold album. They won the Countdown Award for "Most Promising New Talent in the Music Industry" in 1984.
Solo Career and Album Success
In 1987, Kate's album "You've Always Got the Blues" went platinum. Two years later, she embarked on a solo career and released her debut solo album, "Brave," which went triple platinum and was produced by legendary music producer Nick Launay. Throughout her career, Kate has released 37 singles and 22 albums, the latest being an updated version of "Merry Christmas" released in 2010.
Film and Television Roles
In addition to her music career, Kate has appeared in five film and television roles since 1986. She played the lead role in the Australian romantic drama "Dust Off the Wings" (1997) and, drawing on her exotic appearance, portrayed Princess Liliuokalani in the biographical drama "Molokai: The Story of Father Damien" (1999).

Kate Ceberano married producer and director Lee Rogers on February 5, 1996. Rogers has directed several of her music videos. They had a daughter named Gypsy Rogers in January 2004.
