Keaula Kennelly: A Force of Nature
Keaula Kennelly is a professional surfer, DJ, and actress. Unfazed by the immense power of the ocean, Kennelly has consistently pushed the boundaries of women's surfing.
An Illustrious Surfing Career
Embarking on her professional surfing journey at the age of 17, Kennelly made a resounding debut by placing second on the World Qualifying Series (WQS) standings. Her triumphs continued with a groundbreaking victory at the Gallaz Women's Pro in Teahupoo, Tahiti. Kennelly would return to Teahupoo multiple times, securing victories in 2002 and 2003. In 2003, she topped the WCT rankings and secured the second-highest position in the overall women's surfing standings. She also claimed victories at the Roxy Pro in Fiji and the Turtle Bay Pro in Hawaii.
Triple Crown Triumph and Beyond
Kennelly's 2007 season was equally impressive, with her consistent brilliance propelling her into the ASP's Top 10. She earned a silver medal at the Billabong Pro Maui and clinched team gold at the Summer X Games. In 2007, Kennelly announced a brief hiatus from surfing to pursue other passions, namely acting and music.
Multifaceted Talent
Kennelly made her acting debut in the film "Blue Crush" in 2002. She later landed a recurring role in HBO's "John From Cincinnati." Following her acting stint, she embarked on a global DJ tour, performing in countries such as Spain, Brazil, France, Australia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and the United States.
Return to Surfing and New Challenges
After her hiatus, Kennelly returned to professional surfing with unwavering determination. In 2010, she made history by becoming the first woman to win the Nelscott Big Wave Classic. Kennelly's victory inspired countless aspiring female surfers to conquer the formidable contest's towering waves. In 2011, she courageously rode one of the largest waves ever recorded at Teahupoo, narrowly escaping a life-threatening encounter. Despite a horrific facial injury sustained during a competition three days later, Kennelly made a courageous recovery.

Throughout her illustrious career, Kennelly has earned numerous accolades, including the 2002 ESPN Surfer of the Year Award and the Billabong Girls Performance Award. Her unwavering spirit and groundbreaking achievements have cemented her place as one of the most renowned surfers in the world.
