Biography of Kim Carnes
Kim Carnes, an American singer and talented singer-songwriter, was born on July 20, 1945, in Pasadena, California. From a young age, she dreamed of a career as a vocalist and began singing early on. In 1967, she joined the folk band The New Christy Minstrels and around the same time, she met her future husband, Dave Ellingson. Dave proved to be not only a great husband but also an excellent collaborator. Together, they wrote exceptional songs and in the early seventies, they formed a folk duo called Kim and Dave.

In 1975, Kim began working on an album that would ultimately kickstart her success as a performer. Two years later, in 1977, she made a name for herself at the popular American Song Festival where her song "Love Comes from Unexpected Places" won first prize. This composition garnered attention once again when it was recorded by Barbara Streisand for her album "Streisand Superman." In the following year, Kim's name and her song "You're a Part of Me" made it to the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching number 36. This was another milestone in her career.

In 1980, Kim Carnes collaborated with country singer Kenny Rogers to release the hit song "Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer." Their duet quickly became a hit. Throughout her career, Kim found herself on the peak of fame multiple times, with her compositions receiving various awards. She was nominated twice for a Grammy, first for the song "Voyeur" and then for the composition "Invisible Hands."
Currently, the singer resides in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband Dave Ellingson. They have two sons, Collin and Ray, with the latter being named after the renowned musician and guitarist, Ray Kuder. Kim Carnes' music continues to be highly regarded.
