Career as a Judge and Civil Servant
After completing his education, Kim Hwang-sik began his career as a judge. He served in the judiciary for several years before transitioning into the civil service in 1972.
During his time in the civil service, Kim Hwang-sik held various positions of responsibility. Notably, from 2005 to 2008, he served as a judge in the Supreme Court of South Korea. Following this, he became the chairman of the Audit and Inspection Committee.
Appointment as Prime Minister
On September 16, 2010, President Lee Myung-bak nominated Kim Hwang-sik for the position of Prime Minister of South Korea. His nomination was approved by the Korean parliament on October 1, with 169 deputies supporting his appointment and 71 opposing it. Kim Hwang-sik became the first Prime Minister from the Cholla-Namdo province.
