The Life of Kita Narakatsu
Kita Narakatsu was a samurai general who lived during the Sengoku period of medieval Japan.
Early Life
Narakatsu was born in Aki Province to a servant woman of Mori Hiromoto. Due to his mother's low status and a childhood leg injury that left him permanently lame, he was sent to the Buddhist monastery Jōraku-ji and became its abbot.
Return to the World
After some time, however, Narakatsu returned to secular life. He became the adopted son of the Kita clan, vassals of the Mori, and changed his surname from "Mori" to "Kita."
Military Exploits
As a samurai, Narakatsu was known for his military prowess. He fought alongside the Mori clan in various battles and played a significant role in their victories. His leadership and strategic thinking earned him recognition as a skilled commander.
Legacy
Narakatsu died childless on August 30, 1557. Despite his premature death, he left behind a legacy as a respected samurai general and a loyal supporter of the Mori clan.
