Early Career and Transfer to Dynamo KyivKleber De Lira, a Brazilian striker, began his professional career in Brazil before signing a five-year contract with Dynamo Kyiv in January 2004. The Ukrainian club reportedly paid over 3 million dollars for the transfer, beating out interest from Bayer Leverkusen, Shakhtar Donetsk, and two Spanish clubs. Dynamo's scouts had been impressed by Kleber's performances in the Brazilian Championship and the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship in the UAE, where Brazil emerged victorious.
Time at Dynamo Kyiv
At Dynamo, Kleber wore the number 99 shirt and made his debut in the Ukrainian Premier League on March 20, 2004, in a 1-3 away defeat to Vorskla Poltava. He scored his first goal for the club on April 16, 2004, against Obolon Kyiv, finding the net in the 42nd minute.
Later Career
After leaving Dynamo, Kleber played for a number of clubs in Brazil, Portugal, and the United States. In June 2010, he signed with Porto but was later released due to contract issues. He subsequently moved to Palmeiras and Grêmio before joining Vasco da Gama on loan in 2014. In 2018, Kleber made history by signing with newly formed USL Championship club Austin Bold.
Personal Life
Kleber is married twice and has two daughters, Marie Fernandez and Giulia. At the age of 17, he got a tattoo depicting an indigenous woman. Kleber is a devout Christian and attends an Evangelical church.
