Early Life and Education
Mykhailo Mykhailovych Koltypin began his football journey in Kyiv, Ukraine, playing for the "Trudovye Rezervy" team from 1951 to 1960. In 1960, he joined FC Lokomotyv Kyiv, where he played until 1963. In 1964, Koltypin graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports (KGIyFyKSS).
Refereeing Career
Domestic ArenaKoltypin began refereeing football matches in 1962 at regional and Ukrainian championship levels. From 1965 to 1986, he officiated matches in the top-tier Soviet Championship as both a referee and an assistant referee.
International Arena
Koltypin's international refereeing career spanned from 1974 to 1985. He officiated in qualifying matches for the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, and the UEFA Cup.
Football Administration
Federation LeadershipKoltypin served as Chairman of the Football Federation of the All-Ukrainian Voluntary Sports Society of Trade Unions in Ukraine from 1985 to 1991. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Football of Ukraine from 1973 to 2007 and chaired the board of referees from 1971 to 1973.
International Representation
Koltypin represented the Football Federation of Ukraine as an official delegate from 1988 to 2008 and was an inspector for the Federation of Football of the USSR from 1990 to 1991. He also served as an official delegate for UEFA from 1993 to 2008.
Coaching and Education
Koltypin taught at the Department of Football at the Kyiv Institute of Physical Culture and Sports from 1967 to 1998. He was the President of the Association of Football Referees of Ukraine from 1991 to 1998 and a member of the Presidium of the All-Union Board of Referees of the Federation of Football of the USSR from 1976 to 1981. For a time, he headed the Expert Commission of the Football Federation of Ukraine (2002-2010).
International Lectures
Koltypin shared his expertise as a lecturer at international training courses for football professionals organized by FIFA and UEFA. He gave presentations in Turkey, Slovakia, Germany, Russia, and other countries.
Recognition and Legacy
Koltypin's contributions to football have earned him numerous accolades, including the Order of Merit III Degree in 2004. He is considered a pioneer in the development of technical manuals for coaches and referees. Koltypin also played a pivotal role in coordinating the translation of FIFA's Laws of the Game into Russian and Ukrainian.
