As a student at St. John's University, he rose to prominence as an exceptional sharpshooter, particularly from long range. Olympic Success and NBA Debut
In 1984, as a college player, Mullin earned a spot on the United States Olympic basketball team, where he claimed his first Olympic gold medal. After graduating in 1985, he joined the Golden State Warriors, spending the next 12 years with the franchise. His accurate shooting, averaging over 25 points per game, propelled the Oakland-based team into the playoffs several times, but they were unable to secure a championship.
"Dream Team" Champion and Transition to Indiana
In 1992, Mullin added a second Olympic gold medal to his collection as part of the legendary "Dream Team" at the Barcelona Games. In 1997, frustrated by the Warriors' lack of a strong center position, he signed with the Indiana Pacers. In his debut season with Indiana, the 34-year-old forward maintained an impressive scoring rate, hitting close to 50% of his three-point attempts and remaining highly accurate from the free-throw line.
